Growing up, I thought that the cool kids were always one specific thing. At my school, it was the soccer girls. They were all rich and beautiful and super athletic. I wanted to be them so bad, and I basically was. Except that I wasn’t rich, and I had Taylor Swift red lipstick clogging up my braces most days. Also, I couldn’t play soccer if my life were on the line.

As an adult, though, I began to think of myself as a whole universe. I am diverse in my interests and my passions — and ultimately, that is what drew me to advertising. Doing a deep dive on mayonnaise, makeup brands, or German anti-fungal cream is fulfilling because it speaks to the vastness and heterogeneity of my passions. I’ve never seen myself doing just one thing, and now I can ideate in the morning about ketchup, design automobile promotion in the afternoon, and have meetings about fashion in the evening. I have never been more satisfied. Advertising has become the great love of my life.
